چکیده

Electron cyclotron heating (ECH) breakdown and burn-through assist has been adopted to make the ITER start-up, which uses a low toroidal electric field of about 0.3 V/m, more robust. Related studies have carried out on many fusion machines such as DIII-D, JT-60U, Tore Supra FTU. However, required ECH power ensure an effective at is not yet clear. Experiment was also performed in J-TEXT determine minimum requirements develop better physics description process. The loop voltage for successful shot reduced from 34 3.7 V (corresponding 0.56 V/m) by 300 kW X2-mode power. critical formation tokamak discharge 200kW, below this value, ionization caused observed, however, start-up does succeed. effect different voltages pulse-width studied. As injecting proper time, can achieve similar pre-ionization result case with high Extremely leads higher later when putting capacity continue discharging J-TEXT. earlier shutdown failed discharge.

Tokamak start-up with electron-cyclotron heating

Experiments are described in which the start-up voltage in a tokamak is reduced by about a factor of two by the use of a modest amount of electron cyclotron resonance heating power for pre-ionization. The solution of the zero-dimensional start-up equations indicates that the effect is due to the high initial density which increases the rate at which the conductivity increases in the neutral-dom...

Study of Plasma Start-up Initiated by Second Harmonic Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating on WEGA Experiment

Although both 1 harmonic ordinary mode (O1) and 2 harmonic extra-ordinary mode (X2) have been successfully used to initiate pre-ionization and breakdown in many devices, a complete theoretical model is still missing to explain the success of this method. Moreover, some experimental observations are not completely understood, such as what occurs during the delay time between the turn-on of ECRH ...

Electron Cyclotron Heating in the Constance 2 Mirror Experiment* Electron Cyclotron Heating in the Constance 2 Mirror Experiment

Electron cyclotron heating of a highly-ionized plasma in mirror geomctry is investigated. Of primary interest is the experimental diagnosis of the elcctron energy distribution and the comparison of the results of this diagnosis with a two dimensional, time-dependent Fokkcr-Planck simulation. 'Tliese two goals are accomplished in four steps. (1) First, the power balance of the heated and unheate...

In Ion-cyclotron Resonance Heating

We determine the conditions under which the damping of the fast Alfven wave, used in the heating of tokamak plasmas, can be described by the geometrical optics approximations. Also, for these conditions, we derive an analytical formula which explicitly determines the amount of energy which is damped onto the plasma particles by the fast wave. The conditions for the validity of the geometrical o...
